Legal Arabic translation

Precise English–Arabic translation of contracts, court documents and evidence for attorneys, courts, companies and individuals.

Legal translation leaves no room for approximation. A single mistranslated obligation, date or party name can change the meaning of a contract or weaken a case. Arabic legal documents add their own challenges: civil-law and Sharia-influenced terminology that has no exact English equivalent, formal court language and dense stamps and annotations.

Our approach to legal translation

  • Terminology with context. Where an Arabic legal concept has no direct US equivalent, we use the closest accepted term and, where helpful, keep the transliterated original in brackets.
  • Faithful structure. Article numbers, clause numbering, defined terms and signature blocks follow the source exactly.
  • Certification options. Certified translations with a statement of accuracy, and notarized certificates where required.
  • Bilingual layouts. For contracts that must be signed in both languages, we can provide a side-by-side English–Arabic version, typeset correctly right-to-left. See Arabic DTP.
  • Confidentiality. Case files are handled confidentially and used for nothing else; we will sign your NDA on request.

Evidence in spoken dialect

Text messages, social media posts and recorded conversations are often in a regional dialect rather than Modern Standard Arabic, written in Arabic script or Latin-alphabet "Arabizi". We transcribe and translate these accurately, noting slang and ambiguity where it matters. See also transcription services and our guide to Arabic dialects.

Legal translation FAQ

Can you provide a translation for court use?

Yes. We provide certified translations with a signed statement of accuracy, and notarized affidavits where a court requires them. Check the court's local rules for any additional requirements.

Do you translate large discovery sets?

Yes. Send us a sample and the approximate volume, and we'll propose a plan, including a first review pass to identify which documents need full translation.
